Sacred, Ownable, Uplifting, Lasting — a new way to grow
By Deanna KanamanCreator of Living BodyBright
There’s a kind of tired that doesn’t come from lack of sleep.
It comes from constantly chasing something that never quite satisfies.Chasing the goal…the plan…the next version of yourself you think you’re “supposed” to be.
I know that kind of tired.I’ve lived it. Have you?
Somewhere along the way in all that chasing, I realized it wasn’t more willpower I needed or even more trying. It was more grace. It was honesty. It was soul.
That’s what led me to create S.O.U.L. Goals—and to write this little book called Lighter with S.O.U.L. Goals: Sacred, Ownable, Uplifting, Lasting — a new way to grow
It’s not a program. It’s not a performance. It’s simply a beginning.A soft, simple, honest beginning.
That acronym was stamped into me through corporate workshops and leadership trainings. It followed me into my life as a business builder. I even taught it to others, believing that structure and strategy were the only ways goals could and would work.
And for a while, I was convinced.Convinced that if I could just plan it right, measure it tight, and stick to the script, I’d get where I was supposed to go.
All business. All structure. And in the right setting, maybe it is helpful.
But for me, the overperformer, the “do it better, faster, stronger” kind of woman, this way of goal setting became a box I couldn’t breathe in.
I almost suffocated trying to be someone I wasn’t. The last thing I wanted or needed was goal setting that took me back there.
Driven over grounded.
Capable over connected.
Busy over whole.
Not because I wanted to.But because I thought I had to.
And sometimes those goals worked.I hit the mark.Checked the boxes. But they rarely brought peace. And peace is what I was longing for.
So I started asking different questions. Not “How do I get more done?”But “What is God calling me towards right now?”Not “What do I need to fix?”But “What would feel kind and true today?”
That’s where S.O.U.L. Goals came from. This invitation for myself to approach goal setting in an entirely different way.
S – Sacred: Does this honor my body, my soul, my walk with God?
O – Ownable: Can I carry this in real life, without shame, without additional weight on my back?
U – Uplifting: Does it support healing and wholeness in me and around me?
L – Lasting: Can it become a lasting rhythm in my life, not just another sprint?
Lighter with S.O.U.L. Goals: Sacred, Ownable, Uplifting, Lasting — a new way to grow is a free mini-book. It includes three real stories of people who made the shift from hustle to healing through setting their own personal S.O.U.L goals and some of the questions asked to get them to the place of setting, owning and moving forward with their goal..
You’ll meet:
Amelia, who let go of the war with her body and chose peace instead of punishment.
Jayla, who created a quiet morning rhythm that made room for God and for her dream.
Marcus, who stopped saying yes to everything so he could start saying yes to what mattered most.
Each of them stepped away from goals that wore them out and toward something lighter, rooted, sustainable. And you can too.
If you’re in a season where the noise is too loud…
If you’ve been hard on yourself for too long…If you’ve lost the joy in your own journey…
This is for you.
There’s a simple worksheet in the back to help you set one S.O.U.L. Goal for the next 14 days.Nothing heavy. Nothing overwhelming.Just a small, soul-centered next step. With grace for the days you miss.
Because you’re not behind. You’re not too late. And you’re not alone.
